Community Drive-Thru Flu Clinics

The Columbia County Department of Health has received the seasonal flu vaccine and has scheduled community drive-thru clinics for all Columbia County residents 2 years and older who would like a flu shot. Pre-registration is required to receive your Flu shot on the date you want to attend. If you do not register ahead of time, you cannot be vaccinated at that clinic. A separate registration form must be completed for each individual. Photo ID is required for each adult vaccinated.

Emergency Alert Change to NY Alert

Columbia County is changing its mass emergency alert system to the system provided by New York State known as NY Alert. Currently, all disaster, weather-related and other emergency warnings and alerts for county residents are provided by the Code Red mass alert system. After extensive research by County 911 Director Rob Lopez, he and Emergency Management Director David Harrison, Jr., have recommended to the county Board of Supervisors that Columbia County make the change, rather than renew the annual contract with Code Red. County residents are advised to visit www.alert.ny.gov/enroll to register for NY Alert cell phone and email alerts.

Limited Supply of Free Liquid Hand Sanitizer and Face Masks for Ghent Residents

The Town has a limited amount of LIQUID hand sanitizer and face masks (NOT MEDICAL GRADE) to distribute for free to Ghent residents who have been unable to obtain them elsewhere. Both will be distributed on Saturday, April 25th, from 1:00pm – 3:00pm (or until we run out) in the parking lot of Ghent Town Hall.

The Ghent Food Pantry is Open

The Ghent Food Pantry is open Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-Noon. No paperwork is required. We have placed a table on the porch of the Town Hall with a grocery order on it and an ice chest has the meat, eggs, oleo etc. for that order. The Pantry puts a milk card in each order. There is also a packet of cleaning supplies. The table will be right inside the door in inclement weather.
