
Welcome to the Town of Ghent
Ghent is a peaceful town where independence and community coexist. Founded in 1818 from parts of Chatham, Claverack and Kinderhook, it was named for the peace treaty that brought the War of 1812 to a close, re-establishing U.S. independence from Great Britain.
Ghent is tucked away in the beautiful Hudson Valley of Upstate New York, centrally located in Columbia County and northeast of the city of Hudson. It has a total area of 45.4 square miles and a population of 5,402 at the 2010 census. Ghent’s zip code is 12075.

Notice of 2021 Preliminary Budget Public Hearing and Workshop Meeting
There will be a public hearing before the Ghent Town Board on November 12, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. for the purpose of considering the 2021 Preliminary Budget. The public hearing will be held via the “Zoom” online meeting platform.
Notice of October 15 Workshop and Town Board Meeting
The October workshop and regular meetings of the Ghent Town Board will be held via the “Zoom” online meeting platform. Furthermore, the October workshop meeting will be a budget workshop.
The Town Board budget workshop meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. on October 15, 2020. The regular Town Board meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. on October 15, 2020.
