Bicentennial Committee

2018 is Ghent’s Bicentennial.  Our committee is working hard on many events to commemorate the milestone.

Town of Ghent begins marking its yearlong Bicentennial Celebrations

On April 3, 2018 the town of Ghent will celebrate its Bicentennial, “Ghent 200 Years in the Making 1818-2018”. To mark this milestone occasion, the town has just installed new celebratory banners along Route 66 in the Hamlet of Ghent in honor of its founding. This is just the beginning of a yearlong celebration that includes a kickoff on April 3, 2018 with recognition by the United States Postal Service in the form of a special bicentennial pictorial postmark issued and celebration at the Ghent Post Office. Historical walking tours over the summer and a festive town-wide celebration the weekend of October 13th with a Community Day, parade and fireworks—more details to come!
