Welcome to the Town of Ghent
Ghent is a peaceful town where independence and community coexist. Founded in 1818 from parts of Chatham, Claverack and Kinderhook, it was named for the peace treaty that brought the War of 1812 to a close, re-establishing U.S. independence from Great Britain.
Ghent is tucked away in the beautiful Hudson Valley of Upstate New York, centrally located in Columbia County and northeast of the city of Hudson. It has a total area of 45.4 square miles and a population of 5,402 at the 2010 census. Ghent’s zip code is 12075.

K.I.S.S. Keeping Identities of Seniors Safe
The Columbia County Clerk’s Office is sponsoring document shredding at the Ghent Town Hall, March 11-22, Mondays-Thursdays 8:30am-3:00pm and Fridays 9am-Noon.

NY Citizen Preparedness Training Program
February 29, 6:30pm at the Chatham High School residents will learn about the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster, and how to respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible.

The meeting, which will begin at 6:00 p.m., will be used to facilitate a meeting between the Comprehensive Plan Review Committee (CPRC) and various Town representatives.
