A State of Emergency is hereby declared for the entire Town of GHENT, NY for a period of time beginning at 6:00 pm on the date of March 14, 2023 and continuing in effect for a period of 36 hours and ending at 1:30 am March 16, 2023. The State of Emergency has been declared due to emergency conditions produced by heavy snow and winds causing hazardous conditions which threaten or imperil the public safety of the citizens of this municipality.
As Chief Executive of this municipality, I have exercised the authority given to me under New York State Executive Law, Article 2-B, to preserve the Public Safety and hereby render all required and available assistance vital to the security, well-being, and health of the citizens of this community.
I hereby direct all personnel, departments, and service providers of the Town of GHENT including the Highway Department, Town Clerk, and Fire and Ambulance Companies and Districts to take necessary and appropriate steps to protect life and property, public infrastructure, and to take, implement, and render such other emergency assistance as deemed necessary.
