The Town of Ghent Community Engagement and Communications Committee works to strengthen communication between Town government and the residents of Ghent. The committee supports transparency, public awareness, and civic participation by helping residents stay informed about Town initiatives, projects, meetings, services, events, and issues that affect the community.
The committee also works to encourage community engagement by promoting opportunities for residents to participate in local government, volunteer activities, public events, and community conversations. Through outreach efforts, informational materials, website and social media support, and collaboration with other Town boards and committees, the committee seeks to foster an informed, connected, and engaged community.
An additional responsibility of the committee is coordinating and supporting the Town’s Annual Ghent Community Day. Each year, an ad hoc subcommittee is formed to organize the event in partnership with local organizations, businesses, volunteers, and community members.
