2023 Ghent Summer Recreation Program

Monday-Friday, July 5-August 4, 8:30am-2:30pm

  • For children whose primary residence is in the Town of Ghent, one child is $50 and a family is $100.00.
  • The nonresident fee is $175.00 per child.
  • Children must have completed 1 year of kindergarten or be at least six years of age to attend.
  • A current copy of your child’s immunization record must be included with application, as per the Department of Health, for your child to attend any day of camp.
  • Payment and applications are due by June 30, 2023.
  • Please make checks payable to The Town of Ghent.

PICK UP

The summer program hours are 8:30am to 2:30pm. We will close for heavy rain and thunder. All children must be picked up by 2:30pm. Children who are consistently picked up late may be denied further participation in the recreational program. If more than one late pick up occurs, a fee of $5.00 per every five minutes after 2:30pm will be paid to the counselor waiting with your child at the time of pick up. Many counselors have second jobs to get to.

PLAYGROUND ACTIVITIES

Activities include arts, crafts, games and various sports and field trips etc.
Any other extra fees are marked on the calendar – for field trips, pizza, Dairy Queen, etc.

LEAVING THE PARK

Children will not be allowed to leave the park unless they are picked up by a parent/guardian or written permission is given to the playground staff (walking/biking home) The Town of Ghent and employees are NOT in any way responsible for children that leave camp.

PLAYGROUND RULES

Disrespect towards staff, other children or the playground facilities will NOT BE TOLERATED. Behavior problems and/or safety issues as well as children who refuse to comply with staff requests may be removed from the program. Please advise us of any social/emotional challenges your child may have so that we are aware and may offer support.

LUNCH

Children bring their own lunch and eat at approximately 11:00am. There is a refrigerator on site. Campers must bring 2-3 bottles of water daily as it gets HOT!

ELECTRONIC DEVICES

Electronic devices (cell phones, video games, earbuds…) brought to camp are the responsibility of the child. The Town of Ghent and playground staff will not be responsible for any lost, damaged or stolen devices and staff WILL NOT stay late to retrieve lost items.

MEDICATION

The playground staff WILL NOT dispense any medication to children. Any child who participates in the program must be self-medicated, including those with bee allergies.
