The Town of Ghent Announces Second Annual Community Day – A Celebration of Neighbors, Local Services, and Civic Engagement
The Town of Ghent is pleased to invite the public to its Annual Community Day on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Ghent Town Garage, at 1 Garage Place Road, rain or shine. This free, family-friendly event offers a lively mix of music, food, fun activities for kids, and opportunities to connect with local organizations and neighbors.
This year’s festivities will include:
- Live Music by the beloved Ghent Band from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM
- A 100-foot obstacle course for kids
- “Tour trucks and equipment from Ghent Highway, Ghent Fire companies, and local rescue squads”
- Drone Demonstrations, K9 Unit and the BEE Unit (Bicycle Education Enforcement Unit) from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department
- Delicious food beverages provided by the Ghent VFW and Chatham Bakery Greatest Hits
- Booths and displays from local businesses and community groups
- Special presentations from the Town Historian and the Ghent Playhouse
- Educational outreach by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department on child safety
- Informational tables hosted by town committees, including the Comprehensive Plan Review Committee (CPRC), Climate Smart Committee, and Harlem Valley Rail Trail
Community Day is not only a celebration—it’s also a chance for residents to share their voices. The CPRC will be onsite to collect feedback on Ghent’s Comprehensive Plan and hear directly from those who call Ghent home.
“We’re excited to welcome residents and the general public for a day of fun and connection,” said Town of Ghent Supervisor, Craig Simmons. “It’s a great way to celebrate the strength of our community, showcase the work of local groups, and shape the future of Ghent together.”
