The Town of Ghent is pleased to announce the formation of the Ghent Beautification Committee. This initiative is dedicated to enhancing the visual character and environmental stewardship of our historic rural community, ensuring Ghent remains a vibrant and welcoming place for all residents and visitors. The committee will be chaired by Councilmember Carl Quinn.
Potential Committee Initiatives
A beautification committee typically focuses on projects that blend historical preservation with environmental care. We are open to suggestions and look forward to peoples ideas. Potential focus areas include but are not limited to:
- Public Green Spaces: Designing and maintaining seasonal floral displays, community gardens, and planters at key intersections or town buildings.
- Gateway Enhancements: Improving “Welcome to Ghent” signage and landscaping at town entrances to create a cohesive and inviting visual identity.
- Litter Control & Clean-up Days: Organizing town-wide volunteer events to remove debris from roadsides and local parks, promoting a culture of collective stewardship.
Volunteers needed:
The Town seeks civic-minded residents who are passionate about local aesthetics and community pride to serve on the Committee. We anticipate meeting 1x per month for no more than 1 hour. As projects are developed there will be committee discussions about how much time volunteers might be asked to participate in a project – but many hands make light work.
