Welcome to the Town of Ghent
Ghent is a peaceful town where independence and community coexist. Founded in 1818 from parts of Chatham, Claverack and Kinderhook, it was named for the peace treaty that brought the War of 1812 to a close, re-establishing U.S. independence from Great Britain.
Ghent is tucked away in the beautiful Hudson Valley of Upstate New York, centrally located in Columbia County and northeast of the city of Hudson. It has a total area of 45.4 square miles and a population of 5,402 at the 2010 census. Ghent’s zip code is 12075.

Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus December 3
Join us Sunday from 8:00-11:00am at the Ghent Firehouse, 2230 Route 66. Admission: Adults $8. Kids aged 5-12 $5. Those under 5 free. Breakfast purchase is not required to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Menorah Lighting to be held December 7
You are invited to join us for this annual Town of Ghent event. Gather with us on Thursday, December 7 at 4:45pm outside the Ghent Town Hall. Candles will be lit at 4:54pm. Hot cider, cocoa, cookies and chocolate coins will be served.

The meeting, which will begin at 7:00 pm, is for the purpose of considering an area variance and a variance for the expansion of a non-conforming use applicable to the lands of Concrete Land LLC, 1972 State Route 203, Ghent, New York (Tax Map No. 65.-1-22).

There will be a public hearing before the Town of Ghent Planning Board on January 3, 2024, beginning at 7:00 p.m., for the purpose of considering a lot line adjustment minor subdivision of the lands of Phillip Gellert, Kern Drive, Ghent.
