Welcome to the Town of Ghent
Ghent is a peaceful town where independence and community coexist. Founded in 1818 from parts of Chatham, Claverack and Kinderhook, it was named for the peace treaty that brought the War of 1812 to a close, re-establishing U.S. independence from Great Britain.
Ghent is tucked away in the beautiful Hudson Valley of Upstate New York, centrally located in Columbia County and northeast of the city of Hudson. It has a total area of 45.4 square miles and a population of 5,402 at the 2010 census. Ghent’s zip code is 12075.

Coat Giveaway at Ghent VFW
The Ghent VFW (2237 NY-66, Ghent, NY 12075) is holding its Annual Coats For Kids Giveaway Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 1:00-4:00pm. We have a large selection of coats for children in need that they can choose from on that day.

Ghent Halloween Parade
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Ghent Volunteer Fire Company #1 are sponsoring this year’s Halloween Parade, October 31st beginning at 6:00pm at the Town Hall, and marching down Route 66 to the fire department. All are welcome! There will be goody bags for all kids (so no need to bring candy), as well as refreshments
