Comprehensive Plan

The public hearing to hear comments on the draft comprehensive plan will be held on Tuesday, October 28 at 6:00pm at the Town Hall.

The Town of Ghent Comprehensive Plan Review Committee will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Ghent Town Hall, 2306 Route 66, Ghent, New York 12075, for the purpose of receiving public comment on the Draft Comprehensive Plan.

The Comprehensive Plan Review Committee will hold a Public Hearing on October 14 at 7:00pm for the purpose of receiving public comment on the Draft Comprehensive Plan Update prepared by the Committee.

The CPRC expects this draft may change following input from the public, the Ghent Planning Board, Ghent Zoning Board of Appeals, various County agencies and the Town Board, over the next few months. The plan is available here or in hardcopy at Town Hall, during normal business hours.

The Ghent Comprehensive Plan Review Committee (“CPRC”) has been working over the last 18 months to update the Town Comprehensive Plan, during which time it has held several events to elicit input from the public. Over the next 8 weeks, it will conduct the final three public outreach events, before the Plan is presented to the Town Board. Each event is an opportunity for Ghent residents to review the draft plan, ask questions and provide comments to the CPRC.

The Town of Ghent Comprehensive Plan Review Committee (“CPRC”) has released the final timeline for the Comprehensive Plan review.

In the fall of 2023, the Ghent Town Board began planning for a review and update of the Town’s Comprehensive Plan. The comprehensive plan establishes, among other things, the official land use policy of a community and presents goals and a vision for the future that guides official decision-making.
